I agree — I like how you say we’re training our audience! I’m always amazed at how open rates vary drastically — I try to send relevant emails, at the same time, and with good subjects and yet some get opened more than others. It’s a tension we all face!

Just because something was sent 5 hours ago doesn’t mean it doesn’t get read. Content is king. With every email you are training your audience to either pay attention or ignore you. If they find your content consistently irrelevant or uninteresting, you are teaching them to ignore you. On the other hand, if your readers consistently find your content helpful and relevant to their lives they will look for your email and open and read it.
